Draining Air Tanks
Compressed air usually has some water and compressor oil in it which is bad for the air brake system. For example, the water can freeze in the cold weather and cause brake failure. The water and oil tend to collect in the bottom of the air tank and can get into the valves and lines if you do not drain the tanks. Summer is the most important time to drain air tanks. Drain a couple times a week from all the air tanks on the truck. Most trucks have multiple tanks. It is also good to try draining them when the truck is on an incline. Heavy Equipment Awareness 2024
Safely working in the area of any heavy equipment requires the shared responsibility of both the equipment operator and their coworkers. Always put the parking brake on and lock out the machine if you stop work or if someone approaches the machine. Consideration should be given to the following issues related to working around heavy equipment: Inspection of the equipment prior to operation to ensure that all lights and audible alarms are working properly.  A defined route and clear visual path for the operator when moving equipment from the point of origin to the work site. Set up of the equipment at the work area should be stable and have enough space to allow the equipment and workers to perform the planed tasks. Lacerations LCS
As part of the safety process, we want to make everyone aware of hazards that exist on the job. Part of that process is to make everyone aware of accidents, near misses, and situations that happen. Tire Inflation
Please make sure we are inflating steer tires to 105 PSI and drives and pushers to 100 PSI max. Do not over inflate tires and double check that your tire gauge is working properly by checking your tires with another gauge periodically. Tire gauges can go bad and give false readings.
